UCS - quality and experience

About us

The history of fruit and vegetable processing in Dobuzek dates back to the early 1990s. In 1991, the Polish–Austrian company, Krespol, was founded. The company built a modern cold room and a year later started purchasing and manufacturing. After a few years of operating, the British company HJ UREN and Sons Ltd. (currently Uren Food Group Ltd.) took over the lease, and in November 1997 signed a purchase contract.

Between 2006-2007 the plant was extended and modernized. A new cold room, with a capacity of 2 thousand tonnes, was built and the engine room and water treatment plant were modernized.

In July 2019, Klementynka Group acquired the plant, and it marks the beginning of UCS Food Sp. z o.o. Our advantage is direct and long term cooperation with selected group of farmers. Not without the consequences is the fact, that many of our employees are employed from the beginnings of the cold store. They are well trained and their extensive knowledge and experience are the pillars of our success. Our ultimate goal is simply to satisfy our business partners, by delivering the best quality products.

suppliers

At the Klementynka Group, we strive to implement uniform standards for our suppliers.

As one of the few companies, we don’t have a specified minimum delivery quantity. Each supplier who brings his product to us will be registered as our partner.

The supplier can be:

  • agricultural producer,
  • producer group,
  • companies running fruit and vegetables collection centres.

We also organize training in sanitary safety for our suppliers – agricultural producers – and provide agrotechnological counselling free of charge.

We accept raw materials from producers that deal in the farming of cauliflower, broccoli, pumpkin, courgettes, bell peppers, beans, sour cherries, strawberries, black and red currants, raspberries.

Delivery acceptance consists of the preliminary assessment of raw materials in their packaging. Having agreed to bilateral supply acceptance conditions the accepting party issues a GRN. Based on the Note, an invoice is issued.

Every delivered batch of the raw material is assessed in terms of any disqualifying features, i.e. a condition which, if present, results in the automatic refusal to accept the delivery.

It also includes an assessment of the condition of the means of transport and packaging, as well as a preliminary organoleptic assessment of the raw material’s quality (before unloading). The disqualifying features depend on the type of purchased raw material. The most commonly used criteria include:

  • unacceptable sanitary transport conditions,
  • a foreign, atypical smell,
  • an atypical taste,
  • pests or their larvae,
  • foreign bodies (wood, plastic, metal, grease, etc.),
  • frost and heat damage,
  • water-soaked raw material,
  • fermentation,
  • bruised fruit,
  • signs of mould.

Occurrence of any of the above disqualifying features causes automatic refusal to accept delivery.

Following the preliminary assessment, the proper assessment is carried out on the basis of samples randomly collected from different parts of the batch. This assessment is based on the principle of the batch being the same as the samples. Suitable analyses are carried out to evaluate the conformity of the collected samples with the specification requirements – Polish Standards. The evaluated features depend on the type of purchased raw material. The most commonly used criteria include:

  • raw material uniformity,
  • whether the raw material meets the minimum requirements,
  • raw material size,
  • the specification of the quality class,
  • evaluating the raw material meticulously in terms of the disqualifying criteria,
  • performing tests using specialist equipment.

The analyses are conducted on a sample weighing 1000g, and their results are recorded in a quality-assessment report. Should the analysis prove that the raw material is of insufficient quality, we inform the supplier that the raw material is not being accepted or being accepted in a lower quality category.
